Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) is now available
We are introducing Exoscale Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) to replace Private Networks, giving you more control over private traffic through security groups and multiple subnets within one network. VPC is available now in every Exoscale zone, free of charge, with a 99.95% availability SLA.
What is it?
A VPC is an isolated, routed private network for your Compute instances inside one zone. You attach instances to its subnets while they run, and manage it through the API, with exo networking vpc in the Exoscale CLI from v1.101.0, or as code with the Exoscale Terraform provider from v0.76.0.
What you will gain
- Control private traffic with security groups. Use security group rules to allow the connections your instances need, including traffic within the same subnet.
- Organize workloads into subnets. Create separate IPv4 subnets to isolate your applications within a VPC.
- Route traffic through your own appliances. Add subnet routes to send traffic through a firewall, NAT gateway or VPN gateway running on an instance.
If you use Private Networks: they are no longer available for new workloads, and existing ones keep working for 180 days after our email to their owners. The migration guide shows how to move them without downtime.
If you use Private Connect: Exoscale VPC does not yet support Private Connect, so you can keep using it with your existing Private Network. We will notify you when a migration path becomes available.
