We’re introducing Valkey, now available as a managed database service on Exoscale via the web portal (CLI & Terraform coming soon).
What is Valkey?
Valkey is an open-source, in-memory key-value database designed as a drop-in replacement for Redis®. It was created in response to Redis Ltd.’s license change, ensuring the continued availability of a truly open-source solution under the BSD license, backed by the Linux Foundation.
Why Choose Valkey?
- Fully open-source with no licensing restrictions.
- Compatible with Redis® 7.2.4, ensuring minimal migration effort.
- Community-driven development with planned optimizations, such as multi-threading.
Exoscale Portal – Valkey Instance Setup Screen
Existing Exoscale for Caching customers (formerly Redis®) must migrate to Exoscale for Valkey by April 30, 2025.
- A migration option is available in the web portal under the top-right menu in the service detail view.
- Customers who do not migrate manually by April 30, 2025 will be migrated automatically.
